I grew up on a farm in extreme northwestern Minnesota. I am the eldest of 3 children. Both my parents were oldest children. I learned about hard work at an early age and was taught to do alot of housework while my mom worked as a elementary school teacher. I started baking in 1st grade and had to stand on a chair to dump the ingredients into the mixer bowl! I learned to read recipes and loved to bake things that my daddy would enjoy when he came in from feeding cows or working in the fields. When I was 12 years old I got pneumonia and was hospitalized for 10 days! Nowadays you would NEVER find an otherwise completely healthy 12 year old put in the hospital-much less for 10 days! I was given alot of antibiotics during that stay and really have never felt normal in my gut since. In highschool, I was constantly bothered by bloating and gas and distension. I have only lately realized with the help of a very thorough Naturopath, that likely those antibiotics affected my gut microbiome. I have been dealing with this now for more than 30 years!
